Five Step Process
- Call Class ‘A’ and schedule an
appointment. During the initial appointment we will discuss the
different programs available to you, financing options, carrier
information for pre-hire, and tour the school. Students must
have a valid Michigan Drivers License to enroll in class.
- Schedule your class. Call Class ‘A’ to get
the list of upcoming classes and let the customer service
representative which class would work best for you.
- Obtain TIP (temporary instruction permit).
If the student is interested in the Class A 80-hour program or
the Class B program, the student must have a TIP before starting
class. The 160-hr program uses class time to prepare for this
test. All students need to do is go to the Secretary of State
and get a Commercial Driver License Manual, take it home and
study the general knowledge, combination, and air brakes
sections, and go back to the Secretary of State and take the
test. The cost is $35 for this test.
- Get a DOT physical and drug screen. For
all CDL programs, students must have a DOT physical and drug
screen prior to beginning class. We have clinics that we use and
we can provide you with the needed papers for these clinics or
you can go to a doctor of your choice as long as they can
provide you with a DOT physical, drug screen and medical
card. The cost for this is $100 and is part of your registration
fees.
- See you in class!
